Abstract

 The use of monotonous learning methods in the classroom will quickly give boredom to students. The ability of teachers to manage classes also needs to be improved so that the quality of the learning process and learning gets better. Based on data obtained in the field, it is found that there is a need to increase the ability of teachers to innovate and be creative in applying learning methods that can increase student interest in participating in learning in the classroom. The method used in this community service activity is a method of community education where training activities are held for teachers in the application of the Problem Based Learning method. This community service work procedure consisted of four stages, namely (1) introduction of the PBL method to teachers; (2) implementation of the PBL method; (3) learning evaluation; (4) discussion of the results of evaluating the application of the PBL method. Community service activities are carried out in the Vocational High School (SMK) of Samudera Indonesia - Medan. From this community service activity, one of the conclusions obtained was that teachers are more open to develope their competence in the teaching field by learning to use various learning methods.
